se/30, plus diimo, plus maccon equal simasimac

Ok, this is driving me crazy. I just want an accelerated SE/30 with an ethernet card.

I have a Diimo 030 accelerator for the se/30 plus another Diimo 030 accelerator for a IIsi or IIci used in conjunction with Artmix's Twinspark adapter board.

I also have three separate MacCon cards all latest revs.

If I have just the accelerators in everything is fine. If I just have the MacCon's in, everything is fine. Combine the two and I get a Simasimac pattern on power on. I've gone through all three MacCon cards, changed every jumper combination - even had my SE/30 board sent off and recapped with no effect - and it's not a power issue as I'm using Artmix's strengthened power supply

What is going on?!?!?

It would appear that you have never replaced the capacitors on your SE/30 motherboard. Having the most powerful PSU in the world won't rectify that problem. You need to replace the caps. And if you have, then perhaps you didn't adequately clean up the leaked fluid when you changed the caps. Leaked fluid cannot always be easily seen.

It could also be an eaten PCB trace. Even if you cleaned the board well and correctly changed out the caps, a bad trace would cause the Simasimac pattern you are seeing. Those are a pain in the fanny. I have a board like that. I've spent hours trying to resurrect it, but so far it still gives me the SimasiMac lines.

No, I mentioned that my board had been recapped. And it only happens when combining the MacCON with the Diimo. Each on their own work fine.

I've tried 3 different MacCON's, 4 different jumper combinations, 2 different Diimo cards, 2 different motherboards, 2 different version OS's. All with the same result.

I ordered yet another Twinspark adapter from Artmix - it looks like this one is a newer rev than the one I have (circuitboard is blue). Maybe that'll make a difference.

The weird thing is I'll get the SimasiMac with the Diimo 030 for SE/30 card and MacCON upon powering on. But if I use the Diimo 030 card (for IIsi/IIci) with the Twinspark card I can go anywhere from a couple minutes to 15 mins before it throws up a System Bus type error.

Ok so I received the Rev 2 version of the Stratos adapter. Plugged it in and same thing. Beeps but then I get the simasimac pattern.

Bottom line, despite what Artmix says, you cannot use this adapter with a MacCON connector. Period.
