Sad Mac 512KED

My Mac 512K started up with the sad mac icon and an error code. The error code is 01FF8F.

For what I've been able to track, this might be a ROM error. Am I right? If so, what does the FF8F part of the code mean?

My Mac has two piggy-back boards: Dove MacSnap SCSI board and a Dove MacSnap Version 5.0 RAM board.

If the problem is in the ROMs what can I do? Are these ROMs proprietary or regular Mac Plus ROMs?

Thanks.

Got it! The ROMs are good but there's a broken pin in the SnapSCSI preventing it from properly connecting with the logic board.

Will replace it and it should be up and running again...

On the other side, tested the SnapRam card and it is working great, giving me a whole 1MB to my 512K!!!  :)

By the way, anybody knows if a 50 pin connector can be installed in the corresponding 50 holes in the SnapSCSI card so to gain internal SCSI? I hope it works so I can install a SCSI2SD card inside the 512K.  8-)

I'm pretty sure you can, I seem to remember someone on here doing that and installing a zip 100 drive into their 512k

Looks like lots of blank RAM chip spots on that top board.  How high can it go if you start soldering in chips?

If you decide to solder in more RAM don't pick something boring like 2.5M or 4M, go for 3M or 3.25M just to have an "only one" :)

This board is populated with 512k, so I guess that maximum capacity for the board is 1.5Mb making the mac a 2Mb machine.

But a 2Mb Macintosh 512K is kind of rare, un least in this side of the world

A Dove board can only go to 1.5Megs, giving you 2Megs. I've had them and swore by them! 2 Megs on a 512Ke? What a difference that is compared to 512K of RAM!

Other boards out there can take you to 4Megs but the Dove Boards took you to 2Megs.
