You know, your "request" did sound more like a demand than a request. And porter's statement was at least sardonically clever.

If you want something, you need to find a more polite way to ask for it, and not take offence when someone rebukes you for any (perceived) attitude. When I read your message, I didn't see any attitude; porter did. When I read porter's message, all of a sudden, yours did have a ring of demanding-ness to it. A simple "Sorry, I didn't mean for it to come across that way." would have sufficed.

Why the urgency? There is absolutely nothing you can do with a PB 100 or Portable ROM image that I am aware of. Perhaps when there is a valid reason for the use of one, they will surface a little more readily. Are you developing something that uses them, or doing research using these ROMs? What do you know that we don't?

You could buy a Portable or PowerBook 100, and use a program like GetROM to make your own ROM image.

If you just want to look at the resources, I think you will find the SE ROM is virtually identical, except for the power management features. This is another reason Mini vMac will likely never support them. When I asked the developer about the practical application of the additional RAM ceiling (8MB), he suggested a build option to artificially increase RAM in the other 4MB compacts (which are theoretically capable of handling up to 16MB, rather than deal with the power management features which do not help him develop other emulators, nor are they supported within an emulated environment. You can test this with the Mac Classic ROM, by trying to adjust the screen brightness via the emulated software Control Panel, (which aside from the built-in disk image, is almost identical to the SE ROM as well). Unless a compelling reason for running some vintage software that only works on the Portable or PB 100 (of which I can think of none), it is likely going to be a long wait before a functional version of a Portable or PB 100 emulator surfaces.
