Restricting Color Modes

Hey all. Is there a way I can limit what color modes are selectable in the Monitors control panel and the Control Strip under system 7.x? Specifically, I would like to remove the option of “thousands of colors”. Basically, I would like to prevent accidental selection of this mode since it makes my PB190ce go bananas.

You probably need to manipulate the DeclROM of the internal video “card“. But I‘d rather ask myself what‘s the problem with this color mode… Bad VRAM?

It has a 5300ce display transplanted into it. And it doesn’t have enough VRAM to run 800x600 resolution at 16 bits.

you could try mucking with the relevant sResource in an INIT or similar, if you don't want to hack the declrom
