Repairing Macintosh Plus Mouse m0100

My plus mouse seems to have developed a problem with it's wire losing electrical connection right at where it attaches to the mouse body. If i flex the wire to the far right, it connects the circuit again. Has anyone had any experience repairing a semi broken wire without damaging the outer wire casing and or mouse?

thanks

Mark

you pretty much have to cut the wire just before the bad spot. And restrip. it will shorten the length yes, but nothing much you can do. it probably failed right at or inside the strain relief like they always do.

I cant remember if the wire is fused with the strain relief. If it is, you can cut out the strain relief and then clamp it down and drill out the center. and feed the good portion of the wire through.

If your really up for a challange, i dont know if you can disassemble the DB9, but you could pull all the wires out of the outer sheathing. Then use a small steel cable and fish in new wires. That would be almost impossible, but it COULD be done...

yeah its a little annoying, but you take it apart, then you cut before and after the strain relief,

then you drill it out.

Then cut about about 1 or 2 more inches making sure sure you cut out the bad part, feed it back through the stain relief strip it, solder the wires where the old ones were,

and wala. :)

and keep in mind your mouse wire will now be a little shorter.
