Reformating a SCSI Drive

Hi, I have a classic two which has to support for hd20 emulation. It has a hard drive in it, which spins up and makes noises, but it does not mount when I boot up the mac. Is there something I can do to reformat the hard drive so that I can put System 7 on it?

Well you can try Apple HD utility on a system 7 floppy.  But I am gonna jump out on a limb and say the hard drive inside is stuck or dead unless you know it was erased.

I agree with Macdrone. Apple Utility HD will format the drive if it is working. That is a Big if.

What kind of noises is the drive making? Anything other a constant high pitched whine after it spins up will say that it is a dead drive. Clicking, Grinding,  a Loud Thunk, Drive going from a high pitched tone to a low one (spinning down), all means that it's a dead drive.
