Radius Accelerator 16 Installation Question

Hi all,

I picked up a lot of various compact macs yesterday, and one of the SE’s had a radius accelerator 16 installed. This may be a bit of a dumb question, but is there an easy way to install the board back into the SE? I had to slightly bend the metal rails to get it out the first time (no damage caused) but I cannot get the board back in the machine due to the black connector on the top of the card. Is there some method to doing this that I’m missing? Or does anyone know if there is an archive of the manual for this card?

I think "bend the metal rails" is the method to do it. It's not ideal or ergonomic but can be done...

That’s right. I had a complete NIB one of these a few years back. The manual indeed says, essentially, “bend the metal rails”!

I had to do the same thing with my 030 SE accelerator when I got it. It's what you have to do in order to get it in.

I bent out the left rail and the board went in much easier than before, and it booted! Strangely, the motherboard didn’t have any ram when I first opened the machine. The previous owner said that they never opened them, so this must have happened years ago.

I have one of these and didn't need to "bend the rails" to install, but rather flexed the metal chassis wide enough to fit the logic board back in without sliding it like you would normally do. it's tight, but works fine.
