Question about Resetting OS X Passwords

So, the bootable disk, does it need to be the same OS version as the OS on the computer to reset the password, or can it be any OSX disk that installs on the computer?  I have Leopard on a G4 MDD and I have the installer disks, but I don't have access to a Leopard disk just now.

Hey @Juror22 - I've split this from the topic where you originally posted it because that thread was just shy of fourteen years old, comprised entirely of people who don't frequent the forum any more, and related primarily to a different topic. This should get your question some better visibility.

Thanks, I will give that a go tonight.

I worked for for 8 years as a senior systems analyst/UNIX admin, so  I'm super comfy with the command line.   :-)

All set, the website had the correct commands (they are slightly different for each flavor of UNIX or UNIX-like operating system) and I didn't have to come up with a Leopard disk (mine is stored away right now).

Thanks!
