Quadra 950 -- system quirks & bus errors

Hello,

I have a Quadra 950, with a SCSI2SD version 6, set up for four SCSI HD devices at 2 GB each (ID 0, 1, 2 and 3).
After installing A/UX on SCSI ID 1 using the partition map and the guidance from the A/UX Server Penelope, I have some trouble installing and using System 7.5.3 (only with Open Transport), System 7.5.5 and System 7.6/7.6.1. However, System 7.1.1 (ID 2) and 8.1 (ID 3) are working just as anticipated, except they were installed before A/UX.

Symptoms:
7.5.3 (with Open Transport) -- ’Bus Error’ at boot (with or without Extensions off).
7.5.5 -- ’Bus Error’ at boot (with or without Extensions off).
7.6/7.6.1 -- Re-builds the desktop at every boot, and all the icons are gone (except for folders), even when booting from CD.

What is going on?

Looks like a damaged SD Card to me, but maybe I'm missing something. That or the drivers partition was damaged by some disk util.

Good input!
I have tried a couple of drivers, but no difference in behaviour.
I’m gonna try a new SD-Card. Next, I’ll remove the A/UX partitions just to see what happens.

You don’t happen to have the WGS PDS card in there?
That one doesn’t really play well with anything newer than 7.1. (didn’t try 8.1 though so far)

No PDS card, but a WGS card would be fun to have. I’m running tests in HDT 2.0 right at this moment and ID 0 just failed! So, there is definitely something going on with SD or SCSI2SD card. I’ll have to dig deeper.

I finally got around to do some more testing, and it seems as if my SCSI2SD 6 2020c has some issues regarding the stock SCSI-bus in the Quadra 950? It worked without a hitch together with a Jackhammer, but since I wanted to Install A/UX, I had to choose between the Jackhammer and Apple CD 300. But, of course, everything works better after installing a SCSI2SD 5.1.
