This is the only place ever seen a good set of key pictures, so I tried my hand at measuring the bitting pattern. I don't feel confident in the details of my first pass so I won't post my bitting guesses for now to avoid misleading.
But they're definitely 4 position, and somewhere between 4 and 6 depths. That's either 256, 625, or 1,296 possible keys. I don't think I've seen a key that doesn't start with zero though, so presumably there's fewer than 100 actual configurations. No obvious pattern to the key numbers.
I'm pretty sure these are IN8 keyways. I happen to have an IN8 key for a filing cabinet and it does seem to fit. Those are a dime-a-dozen.
Has anyone ever tried buying an IN8 key and having the original copied? I think it's worth a try.
