Quadra 700 PSU Removal problem

CTB

6502
I am having trouble removing the PSU from my Quadra 700. The Service Source Take Apart mentions a "latch" but does not show where it is our how to unlock it. I can get the rear to move a few mm but the front seems stuck and I can see any latches or anything obviously holding it in. I don't want to force it too hard.Screenshot 2024-05-13 at 12.12.30 PM.png

There is a latch under the closest corner in that picture. It’s built into the
plastic floppy/hard drive bracket. It’s on the half circle thing on the bracket. It holds the corner of the PSU closest to the half circle. You push it in towards the floppy/front of the case. There is nothing else holding the PSU so once the clip/latch is free, the rest is friction. Note the latch isn’t difficult to release.

What imacs said.
I would also mention that since there is no picture of the latch in that service source, but note that the Q650/C650 PSU is similar and that the latching mechanism is shown in their service source, so you can get an idea of the position of it from that picture.

Got it out. I wasn't expecting a little bit of plastic on another part (the carrier) to be the latch.

Every time I forget about that catch pulling apart a IIci/Q700 :p A fine Phillips screwdriver slid down unclips it. Don’t forget the screw on the plastic HD/floppy bracket to remove that part.

Also, if you want a slight power upgrade, get the power supply from a Performa 600, IIvx, IIvx, Centris/Quadra 650 or a PowerMac 7100. It's so similar that it works on the IIcx, IIci, and Quadra 700 boards.

Possible that yours got upgraded previously. Did it have the removable fan on the power supply, or was it the all-metal cased version introduced with the IIvx?
