Preserving iMac G3 speakers with flexible adhesive?

Good link mate :) Theyre around the league of a 1 inch cone in the iMac so might have a look around for a repair kit if all else fails. Still thinking replacement is seeming the best option the more i look at it. That said if I can get a 1 inch ish repair kit i might give it a go anyway for comparison. work out how easy it is to do, how cost effective etc. :)

I'm wondering if there's some kind of automotive or plumbing gasket that might fit.

Possible sir, tho it'd be very hit and miss finding something to fit the bill... Also I'm not sure anything intended for automotive or plumbing purposes would allow for the correct control of the motor unit or adequate excursion with such a modestly powered driver. Would be interested to know the results if somebody does try it however. :)

No further news on this front unfortunately... Health not been the best, and compound that with a massive pile of other things needing to be done and a bit of an unwanted spell of depression, I havent thus far gotten to ordering the speakers or even doing anything with the Macs for a fortnight or so. My absense here may or may not have been noted. Slowly getting on top of things tho so should have news in time :)

Schmo - a lot of us here get carjacked by life, on a regular basis. Good to see you coming back though. I've had several big re-cap jobs on the back burner for several weeks now. They'll wait till I'm good and ready.

You know, I took apart an iMac G3 last year, ended up throwing away the whole guts...had good speakers on it :-/ Dunno if I recall asking anybody if they wanted anything, I might have shipped the analog board to mcdermnd. Can't remember.

Have you lot seen this ...third result on Google?

Does the deterioration have anything to do with either just plain age, or is it linked to heavy abuse, or just casual wear & tear? I will say that the CRT on the iMac G3 series is rather mediocre, the machines are just as heavy as a Compact, are unusually ungainly, but do have pretty nice speakers for an AIO.
