powerbook battery

hi everybody,

so i have a powerbook g4 aluminum. so i yanked the power adaptor cord. and so it is really messed up. the plug is just one thing, but i think the internal connector is broken, 'cause when it's plugged in it charges for a few seconds, then it doesn't. regardless of moving it or not. and this keeps going on and on.

i plan to take it to the service, but i need it badly this week.

so i thought: 'hey, i could charge it manually or connect ac power directly to to where the battery is attached.' the most helpful picture i found was this.

so i connected an older powerbook adaptor (with the same output voltage etc.) this way directly, but _nothing_ happened. no little green lights going up, no nothing.

please, could somebody provide me some advice or maybe a nice pic with the schematics of the connector?

i am in urgent need, please reply promptly if you can..

It's possible that the DC board got pulled partly out of place. If your willing to crack it open, you can check.

i would, by all means, but imagine this: in my country it's completely impossible to get ahold of a torx screwdriver. :O i've checked every available shop in the capital but with no luck. so until i get one from ebay i have to stick to the service or connecting AC to the battery pins directly.

You can use Alan's too. I think apple uses Metric.

however, currently i have to get thatt damn battery charged one way or another..

ahh.. these are called 'imbus-keys' or something like that here. i happen to have a full set of them, but the sizes are not compatible. the smallest one just goes around in the middle, the larger doesn't fit inside. maybe you have a different standard for them..

Their either Metric or Inch but I only use inch if the metric doesn't fit.

you know what's funny? i've just tried once more and the screws on the bottom of the dispay came out with no problem using the smallest one. but the ones on the top of the keyboard part just don't match.. shouldn't they be the same size? uzzled:

whew.. so i made my own tools. top casing is removed, keyboard disconnected, what should i look for? the power plug's connector is deep inside and seems undetachable from the logic board (or maybe a separate board with the power, modem and sound in/out ports on it).

Actually, they're Allen keys.

aargh. you didn't say i have to remove the top casing, the logic board, the display panel assembly, the heatsink and just then can i get to that little bastard.. oh well, mind as well make some more coffee.. :
