PowerBook 180 reboots upon Floppy Disk insert sometimes

So the title pretty much explains it all. Sometimes when I insert a disk into the PowerBook 180, the Mac restarts! Seems okay when it does, and it only happens randomly. Odd huh?

The only other thing I've noticed is that sometimes on startup I'll get some lines on the screen... but they disappear when the Happy Mac comes up. Also the battery for the unit was removed, since it refuses to boot with it in there. Any ideas? Not the biggest issue, but still confusing... hmm

It could be that your power brick is a little on the weak side (and are you sure it's the right one for that 'book?). Inserting a floppy makes the drive spin up, and the extra power drain could cause a dip in supply voltage, triggering a reboot. If this rebooting happens less often (or not at all) if you turn off the backlight, that possibility becomes a real probability.

Well I was using an Apple Low-Power AC adapter by mistake, which looks identical to the PowerBook AC adapter I have. I believe it happened both times... however I may be incorrect. I'll play around with it next time. However it only happens once in a while, but it works okay, so not too big of an issue. Thanks for the idea, I didn't think of the drive spinning up consuming more power.
