Powerbook 100 scsi chip

AM85c80 Which is a combined SCSI Serial IC. Apple referred to it the "Combo Chip" in hardware development notes, e.g. PowerBook 100 Hardware Developer Note.

SCC and SCSI interfaces
A custom chip called Combo combines the functions of the SCC and the SCSI controller in a single device. This device is completely software compatible with the SCC (85C30) and SCSI (53C80) chips it replaces.

Found the exact same chip on a dead iivx board. Replaced it now i i dont get a flashing question mark. So hard to say if chip was dead already, or hot air killed it?? It did have corrosion on legs too.. argh!

i think it's more likely that you just had crud shorting pins on the mainboard, and the chip swap cleaned it up.
