Power Mac 8500 Hard Drive Replacement

Well, I was going to tell you to grab an ACARD 7200 series scsi to ide bridge or scsi to sata bridge, but looking at prices on ebay and other places it looks like they are WAY WAY overpriced these days. I bought two of them about 3 years ago for 29 bucks a piece. Now they are about 249.0 a piece.

Other than that, maybe price watch, or ebay and look for a 4.3 or 9.x gig drive or I think that guy on Ebay that sells the 52gig scsi drives preformatted for macs is still around.

If you get old server scsi drives make sure to set the pins to the auto startup of the drive motor kicks. Most are command start that are used in the big old raid arrays.

You could also buy a couple of the 80pin sca to 50 pin adaptors too since they are pretty cheap still. Then definitely you can adapt one of the newer bigger scsi server drives to use.

My 8500 has both setups. There's an 18.1 Gig barracuda 80pin drive with adapter in there, as well as the ACARD unit that drives my ide dvd burner. Works great with Toast. Imagine that.
