Power Mac 5500/225 wont boot from CD

So I just picked up a Power Mac 5500/225 for a steal. I brought it home and it booted to the hard drive alright, I turn it on today and nothing but a flashing floppy drive. I made an OS8 CD to see if it could boot from CD but nothing.

I also tried my system 6 Floppies to see if it would boot to that but nothing as well. I did try flashing the PRAM but that didn't seem to make a difference either. Do these Macs have OpenFirmware that I can boot into? Any ideas?

Well System 6 will never boot a PowerPC. What exactly did you use to burn the OS 8 CD? My guess is either you did not make it bootable or the OS you used is too modern.

Go to the Macintosh Garden and grab an OS CD ISO and burn that. There may even be an ISO of that particular machine's restore CD.

But if the HDD booted yesterday, but not now, its likely dead as a doornail. You will need to replace it. There is a SLIM chance the HFS file system got damaged, but then you need a norton recovery boot disk/cd or diskwarrior or something to fix it.

Oh, and also. you need to hold the C key when booting.
