Power Computing Power Base 200 Problems

I try to look up information on Power Bases, and I get back to my 9+ year old thread! It seems that the only definitive information beyond the EveryMac spec page is my own research!

Anyway, I'm now looking to upgrade it with better graphics because I can (I see that I tried a card from a beige G3 once before, but since the Power Base was nonfunctional at the time, I never got to see if it actually improved anything).

Sooo, anyone have any ideas?

Also, I have a CD-RW drive, and it seems to work inconsistently: if there's no disk in it, I'll get a this disk is unreadable dialog with the option to initialize or eject 9 times out of 10, but if I put a disk in, it will sometimes read, sometimes show the same dialog as if there's no disk, or nothing at all.

I figure the Apple CD/DVD extension doesn't properly support third-party CD-RW drives, so is there a solution? I'm running Mac OS 8.1 and 8.6 for speed, but if I must, I suppose I could upgrade to 9.1 (which has built in disk burning support).

I'm guessing nearly any of your other graphics cards should work now that you have a functional board. It's funny because my power centre had a very similar issue luckily I have a stash of extra parts and was able to swap out either the L2 or the ROM I can't remember which it was. Anyhow if it has PCI slots any rage card or whatever you have that's also compatible should work fine in it, or you can get crazy and drop a radeon 7000 or 9200 in it if you really want to go all out.
