Hello folks...

I bought a older broken down PowerBook G4 A1095 on ebay.

When I boot the computer I hear a fan or a hard dive making a sound  - much louder then I think one should hear. It sort of sounds like a fan to me, but I dono....

When I tried to boot, I get to a screen with a ? and apple folder icon flashing on and off.

I have a 2 DVD set of of original Mac v 10.2.3 installer DVDs.  I turned the computer on and slid in disk  # 1 and healed down the "C" key.  I had the same issue as above.  I shut down the computer and tried again.  Same thing.  Now I don't know how to eject the DVD.

I looked on line and found a tutorial on how to open up this powerbook.

https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/PowerBook+G4+Aluminum+15-Inch+1-1.5+GHz+Display+Replacement/229

It looks like that is what I need to do next.

Anyone know of any key commands I can use on boot the eject the DVD?

Any suggestions on what else I could try before I open this powerbook up?

Thanks

I believe that machine requires 10.3.3 to boot (up through 10.5. 8-) .

Do you have any firewire capable machines and cable? Or firewire hard drive to boot from?

If the disk isn't physically stuck, try rebooting the machine holding down the trackpad (button) to eject the disk.

Thanks for the help MJ313.  Nope, no firewire drives or cables...

So on the touch pad on the Powerbook, I have a left click and a right click button.  Which one are you talking about?  I will try both right now and see if I can get anything to work.

I aslo have a DVD of Leopard - 10.5. I can try that next if I can ever get my DVD to eject.

Thanks!

Well, it looks like tomorrow I had better that this bad boy apart.  I was unable to eject the DVD with any combo of the touch pad buttons.  Guess this thing is really broken....  Thanks for the tips!
