Potential: Mac Classic

I may have another Mac Classic coming my way. I found one on Craigslist tonight (http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/sys/3002114544.html) and may go pick this one up; I emailed the seller tonight.

Yes, this will be the third Classic I've picked up this year, but I figure I want to stock up a bit since I'm using them for my "Mac4Kids Nights" once a month now (I'm actually having one tomorrow), even if they're just as backup systems.

I probably won't get it in time for Macs4Kids but will have it for the next one--hoping to pick it up Saturday.

Yup, this is what I'm spending my local tax refund check on :-)

Good thought...or perhaps I make this my first retr0brite project? After all, I'll need something to do during that week between the end of the school year and summer tutoring session on the days I'm not on vacation...

In any case, I'm picking the Mac up tomorrow. I definitely could have used it tonight for Macs4Kids!!!

The Mac is safely home and sitting among others like it...

Everything works fine although it does need a new battery. I'd better check it for a red Maxell soon!

Needs a bit of a bath. Someone colored in the Apple on the mouse.

Let's see here...

In the closet (collectibles) I have a Classic II, SE, Proto SE, boxed Plus, boxed 128K, 512Ke, and ED. That makes 7.

I have two Classics for home use, one of which is set up and the other of which is in my other closet. 2 there; running total of 9.

There is a Plus and a Classic in the garage. Both need something (keyboard and analog board, respectively). 2 more; running total 11.

The Macs4Kids/tutoring/future classroom Macs group includes four Classics and three SEs. Make that 7 more for a running total of 18.

I won't count the SE I'm parting out since it's essentially parts, not a whole.

7 + 2 + 2 + 7 = 18 compact Macs. (can't forget the label)

Actually, let's write it in a way we need to use the distributive property.

2 (7 + 2) = 18 compact Macs.

Nice little compact stash. I'd have counted the parts SE as a half. :p

Will the analog board in the SE work in the garage Classic?

I'm not sure how many compacts I have total. (Or how many Macs, for that matter...) I know there's three SE/30s and a 512K here. There's more in storage: SEs, Pluses, 512K(e?)s, and one Color Classic. Somehow I've never had a Classic or Classic II; I never sought one out that would have had to be shipped, and never came across one locally at the right price. I do like the lines of them, hopefully one of the two will pop up nearby sometime. Especially if it's a Classic II. A 128K would be nice too, even more so if it's boxed like the one you have. Someday I'll have to splurge to import any ED variant as well. A prototype of any kind would also be awesome, and even better if it has one of the sweet clear cases. Maybe when I'm a rich man...

Actually, let's write it in a way we need to use the distributive property.
Can't tell you're a teacher or anything... ;) :D

I guess I could count the SE as a half since I probably have enough parts around to make it into a working computer.

I actually just remembered I have one more--an old 512K that was upgraded to a Plus early on in its life. This one is sitting in a closet and needs its analog board resoldered. It's low on my priority list now, but the machine is a bit sentimental to me since it netted me an award and a mousepad (prize) in Retro Challenge 2008.

I do have a pair of SE/30 boards but no longer have an authentic SE/30.
