Portable - two steps forward one back

Sure,

Here's basically what I do:

1. Place the chip and solder one pin in each corner

2. Then apply paste flux to all pins

3. Drag solder each pin with no concern for obvious bridges

4. Dip some wick in paste flux and drag the hot solder tip over all pins with wick in between to remove excess solder and bridges.

5. Inspect the pins for proper connections.

Make sense?

Thanks for the post drag wicking tip - just seen someone doing that. I tend to use gel flux but I'll give the paste a go. Any preferred tip type for the drag ?
