You're right. It's a Kodak / Sayette datashow pad connector. It was a very common mod in the day. If you open the Mac, there will be a little video daughterboard in there connected to the socket.

 
Gotta love that rust! Well, at $44.99 ($20 for shipping) you can't complain too much. But regardless of the original purpose, in light of the condition of that connector, I wouldn't expect it to function as it once did.

 
It could possibly be a TTL video port for connecting an external monitor, as this connector was quite popular in the 1980's.

 
I'm still kicking myself about selling two of the Kodak/Sayette Datashow LCDs for work without realising what they were.
