Saw an auction yesterday for a Plus with keyboard and mouse, an SE/30, and a Stylewriter II all advertised as parts/repair. It specifically said that the printer was the only thing that powered on and the other two were dead. Figured since the price was decent it might be worth a shot just to get some spare parts. After I brought the little guys home and tested them it turns out the Plus works just fine (though the floppy drive isn't reading anything and likely needs to be cleaned/replaced) and the SE/30 did fire up though nothing showed up on screen.
Interestingly on the SE/30 it had a cable hanging out the security slot market "VIDEO OUT", which I thought was odd since the expansion slot cover was missing and I could see there wasn't a wonderful Micron card in there. When I cracked the case I saw a red Maxell bomb had gone off and torched the motherboard to the point that as I was taking the cover off a bunch of chalky white battery acid came out (not surprising in the least) but the "VIDEO OUT" cable was connected to a small board that plugged into the power connector on the analog board and the power cable from the motherboard plugged into that. The video connector on the CRT was also unplugged from the yoke and I figured "well there's your problem" but once I plugged that back in and fired the machine up I got quite a nice light show and quickly unplugged it again.
As far as the video out connector goes, since it just plugs in to the analog board could I assume that it would work on an SE as well as an SE/30? It's not like it matters all that much since I don't have any monitors or converters that would play nicely with a 9 pin output.
I'll get pics up this evening.
