Pismo Mac OS X 10.4.11 Orinocco Silver drivers?

CTB

I am looking for drivers for Mac OS X 10.4.11 for my Pismo. I have both Orinoco Silver and Gold cards as well as a Lucent WaveLan card and want to get wifi working. I already have an original Graphite Basestation working.

I have done a few searches and all I can find is the IOExpert drivers that want a serial number.

In a Pismo (400/500 Mhz) you already can use a regular Airport Extreme Type I/II PC CardBus WiFi card.
I always use a fully compatible, easy available and cheap Gigaset Siemens 54 PcCard in it. OsX Tiger nativley recognizes it as AirPort Extreme ( Lucent chipset). No need for special drivers and different Orinoco Cards, WPA2 encryption is much better than the old WEP .

I should've been a little more specific. I also wanted to work with Mac OS 9. I am pretty sure the WPA2 stuff doesn't work on Mac OS 9, hence the setting up of the original graphite BaseStation. I managed to find an original airport card in an iBook G3 clamshell I had and it works beautifully on both Mac OS 9 and 10 albeit with the old base station with less security. I will definitely track down one of those Siemens 54 cards as WEP would be nice if I don't need Mac OS 9.

this is the Orinoco version with complete installer that worked most of the time on my machines with 8/ 9 and my Orinoco Gold/Silver or equivalents..other WaveLan versions didnt, it correctly recognizes the chip version

Could just have both cards and swap them over depending on if you’re booting into 9 or X.

Orinoco Silver and Gold cards work with native Apple Airport drivers on Mac OS 8.6 and up. Just extract driver files and put in corresponding folders, reboot and the Orinoco silver will be recognized as an airport card. The silver will also do 128-bit WEP when using Apple drivers, otherwise you need the gold card for 128 (Mac OS 7.6 - 8.5).

Airport drivers work for me on PB5300, PB3400, Pismo when running 8.6 and up. But install an original AirPort card in the pismo under the keyboard and enjoy wireless without the PC Card sticking out the side.

Apple Airport cards were cheap (HK sellers used to have them for $10) but not now, Orinoco cards can be picked up cheaper. Many have external antenna input too for better range

Fair nuff. Personally, having delicate stuff sticking out the side of the machine concerns me. Well worth the $20-30 an AP card costs, IMO.
