Performa 6360

Ended up with a Performa 6360 nearly free, along with a purchase of an Apple "Trinitron" CRT and another vintage computer a local seller was offloading very inexpensively before moving. )He even through in a 6116CD with a missing HD for free. I took it because the pizza box case was in good shape.

The 6360 is not something I was seeking, but it is a bit nostalgic for me as I had the 6200CD as my main computer when I went out on my own as a solo lawyer in 1995. that machine got me through a year or two, along with some peripherals and a HP 5MP printer that worked for me until into the 2010's sometime (amazing machine from when HP seemed bulletproof). Along with work, I enjoyed my 90's alt rock music on the Launch CD-ROM mags, and played Myst (poorly, but enjoying the scenes and vibe).

So anyway, the collection grows.

6360 is the best of all of that form factor. I'm not sure that they actually sold them in many countries outside the US, but I'm in the process of building one from parts, a 630 chassis and a board from a 5400 or a 5500.

You can fit a G3 upgrade to make a miniature beige G3 :)

P.s. by law, you have to un-tint the trash and set a different desktop. 😆

Interesting. At first I was confusing it with the 5260, whose display is limited to 640x480 and was the reason I bought a PM4400 instead, in 1996. And there's no corresponding 5360. Instead, the 5400 and 5500 kept the 52xx and 5300.

Oh no, I've just been looking through EveryMac.com at all the different 52xx.. 55xx vs 62xx to 65xx models and realised what a mess the releases were! The 5260 arriving later than the 5300, but the 5300 being the better one and the '60' not meaning 160MHz; then the 6260, 6290, 63xx and 64xx all arriving in 1996! It doesn't even quite look like the 64xx and 54xx sync'd up in August 1996 either, because the 64xx started at 180MHz while the 54xx was at 160MHz, then they both jumped to the next +20MHz speed. No wonder Apple Computer was collapsing!
