Makes sense to me... Can't put a price on the nostalgia we get from using old Apple gear. Riddle me this... does it make sense for me to occasionally do book research on my PowerBook 5300ce when I have a brand new MacBook Pro (Unibody)?
I just enjoy using the older stuff sometimes, and do everything I can to speed them up and make them more responsive.
The G3/400 uprade is probably the second best thing that can happen to any PB1400, just after being equipped with a TFT screen. If asked to spend 200 bucks to pimp a 1400c, I would go for that upgrade.

Agreed, thoroughly. What would there otherwise be for a 603e/166MHz PB 1400c under OS 8.6 to do in a world that has advanced at least 11 years? However, my G3/400MHz upgrade running Mozilla 1.0.2 was still holding its own in eBay trading via dial-up from the Boondocks only two years ago. It still reaches these Forums by ADSL, with only a little less grace than the present MDD 1GHz DP does in Safari 3.2.1, and oftentimes it's the Forums that are the stumbling block, not the PB.
And, as a by no means inconsiderable afterthought, the 1400 talks to this MDD (over afp) through its Farallon PCMCIA card (10Base-T) and my LAN. How's that for forward compatibility?
