Hi,
seems we're all recalling our conquests from during the dark days of the server crash now
My most recent eBay pickup was a PB Duo 280c, with Mini Dock and standard power adapter, 12MB/350HD. When I got it home, I found the hard disk was crapping out, and it was GLODing at me, however leaving it to charge for an hour or so it's been starting up fine ever since. I've since replaced the hard disk with a spare 350MB job, and upgraded it to 40MB RAM, which I bought cheaply when I had some G4 Cube parts shipped over from YourMacStore.
To me, this is Apple's finest 68K notebook - very sleek, good build quality and fast. I've always found the 5x0 too chunky and really cheap looking - the plastics are so thin on these machines.
Another pickup was 3 x free Newertech G3 upgrade cards, two of which were new in box:
- G3 PDS 210Mhz (I've chucked all my 6100s out!)
- G3 ZIF 400Mhz (for B&W and beige G3s, appears to be dead though)
- G3 PCI 275Mhz
The other free pickup was a Dell 1100 Inspiron notebook (P4 2.4Ghz 512MB/no HD); I bought a cheap power adaptor and disk caddy for it on eBay. Unfortunately, this is a dead one so far - no life at all, needs more TLC.
JB
