OS 8.5

Where can I find a copy of OS 8.5?

I have one saved on an old hard drive I Found, but it seems to be stored in an .img format and I cannot get anything to read it.

Any ideas?

Macintosh Garden probably has it.

I won't link directly since I believe that is frowned upon, but Macintosh Garden seems to have it (in many versions!).

Also, I am not sure what kind of classic hardware setup you have, but if you can download a copy of Disk Copy 6.3 or DiskDup+ (widely available on the web) and run them under System 7-9, they should be able to read your .img files.

If the .img file was copied to/from a PC first, it may have lost its resource fork and is not usable.
