Oops...I did it again...

I told myself I wouldn't get any more. I said I'd swear off buying them for the rest of the year after picking up a IIc from a guy from my old church. I said there was no way I'd want to add another piece to the lab even if we got more students.

Well, all that talk failed. I just bought another SE.

Hey, it was a SuperDrive model and under $100 before shipping. Bum analog board? Maybe, but I have another one floating around that works. It had a keyboard and mouse though, so there's that.

Now it just has to make it across the US.

I think this happens to most of us. Happens to me all the time.

I used to be a sucker for $40 Mac LC class machines. You know… the spare for the spare for the spare sort of thing.

Hope you enjoy the SE!

Can you ever have enough Mac SEs? I regeret selling my 800k/20SC model even though I have a Plus, an SE FDHD and an SE/30.

I feel your pain! I told myself I had enough PowerBooks - in fact more than enough. Too many to use, too many to find places to store away. Yet three more arrive early next week.

I would have serious storage space issues if I was as keen on compact Macs instead!

It's been years since I seen a SE cheap enough to grab for a spare (I am cheap). I think I have two SE's and one SE with superdrives.

Generally, if you like a model, I suggest you have at least two of them in case one breaks.

The last Mac I snagged was a 660AV I think that needed work and that was a while ago. I haven't given up on collecting computers, but most of what I snagged in the last few years have been PCs and PC cards. 68K gear is getting pricey for something you just fix up and shelve, and PPC is getting there.

Is there a such thing as "cheap" anymore in this hobby? it is kinda why I gave up on it about 80%.
Same here. I've pretty much given up on affording pretty much anything, especially nowadays, with inflation running so high.

There are still deals every now and then (mostly on this forum), though, so I do keep an eye out.
