It's really not as old school as it could be, but I'm excited. It's an IBM Personal Computer 330. It was destined for the recycler at work and I'd ask if I could keep it (we have a couple pallets of various versions of these things) and got the approval today! It's in very good shape cosmetically, and I'm working on giving it a good cleaning during my last few hours of work.
Mine has either 32 or 40MB of RAM, (it uses 72-pin SIMMs) a 133Mhz Pentium, and a 1.2GB hard drive. Three shared PCI/ISA slots, one of which is occupied with a NIC. I'm going to add a sound card... assuming I find one in my box of parts... and that will be after I move and retrieve the box from my storage unit!
I got to set up as a means of running OS/2 Warp 4. I've never had a good system to run OS/2 on and well, IBM makes the hardware and software so this should work out nicely without fussing about with a ridiculous amount of driver-searching.
Oh! And since it lacked a CD-ROM drive when I picked it off the pallet, I got the OK to add a drive to it. Lucky me, I found an 8x HP CD-Writer 9100 series!
I always liked IBM hardware. I'll have to get some pictures taken once it's all cleaned up and ready to rock.
I may also try and procure a few other old boxes, but I'll save the details for now to avoid potential disappointment.
