Not Apple but Worth Mention

Today I took home from my school's basement (with permission!) one of HP's popular personal printers of the 90's: a LaserJet 4L. Hauling it home was not easy, as my commute involves a subway and two bus trips. Thankfully, I didn't drop it or anything like that.

Sadly, it's not the 4mL edition, which is bred for Macintoshes and can handle PostScript.

No kidding! There's still another IIsi, a IIx, a IIcx, an Apple IIe w/ DuoDisk, and a Plus W/ KEYBOARD all in that basement.

BTW, the 4L is slow, there's no denying that. However it's shallow-but-wide form factor lets me shove it under my bed, and with a USB/Parallel adapter it works just fine with Windows 7.

When I was in middle school ten years ago, a teacher at my school was going to toss a Mac Classic. I asked him why he was tossing it and he said it didn't work right. He then said that if I could have it as long as it was OK with the principal. At the end of the day I went to the principal's office with the teacher, he OKed it and thought it was great someone could give the Mac a new life, and I went back to the classroom to get the Mac. Unfortunately, my bus had already left by this point. I had to call my mom for a ride, and when she found out why I missed my bus, her first reaction was "oh no, another Mac!"

The Mac wound up being in good working order and still works to this day. As a bonus, the keyboard on the computer was an Apple IIGS model, which I prefer to the standard Classic keyboard.
