Noises comming from macintosh portable speaker

Hi, has anyone experienced this issue, or could offer any input on what it could be

needs a recap.  caps going bad causes some nasty noises to come from that speaker.

yup cap the portable before bad things start to happen.  its a blessing in disguise that just the sound is off.

thanks for the input. Uniserver IDK if you remember but i got it recapped a year or 2 ago. ill open her up and test the caps

Ah ha... well then maybe make a little video or recording of what the noises are sounding like.

and, around when did it start making the noise?   the portable is quite the problematic beast.

in the past i have experienced some boards that make some slight noises after a re-cap,

almost like you can hear the CPU processing in the speaker... etc... ever so slightly.

You might want to lightly spray your board down with silicone oil, because 2 years ago i wasn't doing anti corrosion treatments.

Not sure if you are by the salt water, but almost always boards from homes

that are right on the salt water suffer more from currosion then others.

Well any uncleaned cap goo, or cap goo stuck in between the layers which is impossible to get out, will eventually eat away vias from electrolysis effect. 

Thats the other thing you have to watch out for.

yeah that is why a wash is so critical.  and then regulated compressor blow dry.

i really don't love dishwasher boards… man … Holten bless his heart,  There would be detergent caked under the various  Q14 / q15 / q16 / q20 / VR1 / Q1

ill give the spray a try. Im not sure when it started, hard to hear it over conner driver. Its as you said Uni seems like its cpu related, the frequency of the sound changes when a program is loaded or any  key is pressed on the keyboard

there is a possibility it may have always made that noise then.  i don't think its anything to worry about though.

could you check to see if you notice it with the headphones plugged in as well as speaker.
