No chime in Color Classic, but it seems to work OK...

Hi...

My Color Classic (with a CC II motherboard) started to chime intermittently.  Now, no chime at all.  Everything seems to work OK.  However I have yet to install my network card and and configure a browser.

I have a floppy of Norton Disk Doctor (V 3.2.1 1990 - 1995).  I ran it and it said my HD was OK.  I am using a solid state adapter with a ScanDisk Ultra class 10 memory card in it for a hard drive.  I am running 7.6. with 36 MBs of memory on my motherboard.  I have not made any mods to my video.  It is still running at 512 x 384.

I would appreciate any suggestions on how to trouble shoot my no chime issues.

Suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

I guess I needed more coffee.  My brain was broken.  I found out that my sound was turned off.  Chimes OK now...  Gez!  When will I learn??!!

Another note (I've been doing a lot of board and chassis tests recently) - if you store your boards out of machines, they can build up some oxidation on the "edge connector".

One fine example was the system that had no LED, and front panel board didn't function- cleaning that section of the edge connector solved the problem right up.

I had similar issues on a few 6400/6500 boards that wouldn't read the IDE HDD, but would read SCSI.

This is basically the same issue NES games can develop...
