Nice nonworking Macintosh Plus

JRL

68000
From a teacher here. It has a nice carrying bag, the keyboard and mouse, a CMS 20 MB ZFF hard drive, and all the cables. It also came with the following:

System 6.0.3 boot disk

Boxed V for Victory-Market Garden 1944

Falcon disks

Some other disks with files I'm going to delete.

It has some slight CRT burn.

Also, it won't power up and reportedly had analog board problems last time he used it.

When I plug in the keyboard and mouse and turn the Macintosh Plus on with the back switch, the CRT turns on, but nothing else.

Suggestions?

Have a look inside and see if any of the internal cables have come loose. If you're inclined it may be worth looking for cracked solder joints on the analogue board too. Best to do this with the Plus unplugged for obvious reasons!

When you say the CRT turns on, does it actually light up?

Take a long non-conductive object and poke around the analog board with it on and see if the screen comes to life. Especially mess around with the connectors.
