Hard disk can be made to work probably. They have a rubber bumper internally that goes sticky and sticks the head. Can be taped over and fixed a lot of the time.
Well shoot. Today it has decided to shoot ANOTHER line across the screen. Not sure if it is related but I opened it up and connected the hard drive back up to see if I could get it to work and noticed there’s another line now. The connector seems fine and I tried pushing areas around the board. I need to rule out if it’s the display or the logic board… what a pain. Love this stuff

Well if you mean that rubber number where the actuator is for moving the head, it was goo to the touch so I carefully removed it cleanly. I manually moved the head and then the drive would spin down and back up again and move the head back in position. But that’s all it would do.
