My System Folder Disappeared!

Ok this has to be the oddest thing that has ever happened. I booted up my SE/30 and my system folder isn't there. The HD doesn't seem to indicate it's even there so it's not off screen or anything. The folder must be there somewhere because my SE/30 boots without a system disk. What the heck could have happened?

What System version are you running? Systems 7.0 and 7.0.1 had a disappearing folder bug which was fixed in System TuneUp 3.0 and Systems 7.1 and later.

There's no way that you or someone else may have moved it into another folder, or even into the Trash is there? Unlike most operating systems which require their system folder(s) to be in the root directory, a System Folder under the classic Mac OS can be anywhere and still boot the system, so long as it's blessed.

I'm running 6.0.8.

I don't think it's in the Trash (no bulge) but I'll check. I did delete the old System Folder so I could reinstall 6.0.8 with the SE/30 specific files (It had files from my Classic on it before) though. It could have been accidentally moved to another folder off the root I suppose.

There was a very odd thing that did happen though now that I think about it. To save some time I hooked the HD up to an external enclosure and copied the contents of my Classic to it then slapped it into my SE/30. When I first booted it kept trying to load Dark Castle (with its custom booter) whenever I turned the Mac on. I got around this by booting with the system disk and deleting the System Folder and reinstalling (as stated above), but it was still VERY odd. My Classic doesn't do that and I basically made a direct copy of the HD from it. Weird!
