MAJOR RESCUE MISSION

I CAN NOT believe the haul I made today. There was free computer recycling going on in my city for 2 days, and on the second day (today), I went down there and offered that I would help them all day for free if they let me have a bunch of stuff. They accepted the offer!

I haven't tested much yet because it was a rainy day, and I'm not sure if some of them may be wet or still damp inside. Also there may be more things wrong or missing that I'm not aware of yet. But I will mention any points of interest that I know so far.

Macintosh Performa 475

Looks good

Macintosh Performa 475

The second one is BRAND NEW in original box. It has never even been removed from its original plastic bags. There is also a monitor deeper down in the box. The tape of the box was cut so that's how I looked inside. Everything is in there, this is straight off the shelf. (How many of these could there even still be?!)

Macintosh 12" RGB display

Looks good

Power Macintosh 6500/250

Looks good, with zip drive

Power Macintosh 6500/250

Looks good, no zip drive

Power Macintosh 6100/60

Extremely dirty and scraped up. 3 feet missing.

Power Macintosh 6100/60

No CD-ROM (also appropriately has the blank bezel)

Power Macintosh 6100/60 AV

Missing the AV card.

Power Macintosh 7500/100

Includes internal zip drive

Performa 6300CD

Looks good

Performa 6320CD

Looks good

Blueberry iMac G3/266 (I think...)

Was extremely wet... Opened it up and logic board looks dry though, needs HD.

Strawberry iMac G3/333

Was attempted to be taken apart and given up on. Missing front bezel below screen and the little bezel on the CD-ROM. Missing some screws.

UMAX SuperMac 500

Looks good

IBM PS/1 Consultant

Works, tested.

IBM 8512 color monitor

Obviously spent many years outside in the weather. Everything inside is all rusty and full of pine needles.

Macintosh SE

Tested, crashes during boot, can be fixed with simple reinstall or figure out problem extension. Back of case is dark yellow.

I can swap parts with this and my problematic SE to narrow down the problem now!

Oblong DirecTV Dish

Maybe some interesting WiFi projects?

Stereo Altec Lansing speakers w/ large subwhoofer

These are just generic style, (no soundsticks or anything) but they have quite good sound.

LOADS of keyboards, mice, USB cables, etc.

Nintendo NES

Included Dr. Mario inside.

A conquest in the truest sense! Especially that boxed Performa 475! Why would someone recycle that?!?

I wish the recycling companies around here were nice like that.

I had Prodigy included with my new Packard Bell 286 back in 1989 or 90, used up the free time and dropped it.

Too bad about the 8512 IBM monitor, IBM made some nice ones back then.

Pics of it ALL please! A conquest of this magnitude needs to be cherished.

... imagines four tired troopers raising the MLA flag over a mound of Macs

I too demand pics! Is the PS/1 an AIO or a modular unit?

I think I know what model of Altec Lansing speakers you are referring to--does it have a rather large subwoofer connector on the back that almost looks like an ADB/Mini-Din8 connector from the outside and is red? If so you have a very good set of speakers...I use that set on my stereo.

I'm at school right now, but I'll get some pictures up later tonight when I get home.

The PS/1 doesn't have a built-in monitor. The speakers do use the mini-DIN jacks. I had a black set already that were 4 channels, but with a smaller subwhoofer. This set is white. They're very similar to these:

Note: I had listed the iMacs as Rev. B, and obviously only bondi blue iMacs are Rev B. I know it's Blueberry because it has no IR port on the front. Obviously the strawberry one isn't bondi blue. I made the proper revisions above.

WOW! 8-o That is an amazing haul. Yeah, computer recycling is a no-no for anything with an Apple logo. You never throw out Apples, you either keep them, sell, or give away.

Performa 475 (weird, it says only "Macintosh Performa" on front of case with manual-inject floppy, maybe the top case has been replaced, or perhaps this has been upgraded from something older)

The SE I just got is the one on the far right.
