Macintosh Color Classic Software Install Problem

Hiya,

I trying to install some software on a newly acquire Macintosh Color Classic running OS 7.1. Can someone please give me directions to get software on to a 1.44 MB floppy so I can import the software on to my Mac Color Classic.

I have a USB Floppy drive and a Ibook G3 Clamshell running OS 9.2.1
I have tried formatting the floppy every way available in Disk Utility in OS X 10.5 (I did this on a powerbook). I dragged the software onto the floppy. My Macintosh Color was able to transfer it, but the system did not recognize the software. It was in .sit format. Do I need an early version of stuffit?

Any help is appreciated!

Your best solution is to format the floppy using the Ibook, then use 10.5 to drag the software on the newly formated floppy.

Not the only way round.

I did that. I managed to get it to Floppy (1.44MB), but the Mac Color Classic (Running OS 7.1) would not recognize it to install it. It did transfer the file to the hard drive on the Mac Color classic though. #7

The software/application is Passport Alchemy 3.0.1. It is in a .Sit format.

Yes, you'll need Stuffit on the Color Classic if you want to expand the sit file. You might be able to expand it on another machine and write the contents to a floppy, but there's a chance it won't fit once expanded. I'd suggest a copy of Stuffit Expander 4. You'll need to download one in a self extracting archive otherwise you'll be stuck in a catch 22: you'll need Stuffit in order to expand Stuffit. sea.bin is the correct file extension you'll see online. http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/stuffit-expander-402
