Macintosh Classic II

Collected today a Classic II, was cheap, no mouse nor keyboard and a no-worker.

Leaking caps on the logic board, not a big deal, the rest is in very good condition, no yellowing.

removed the II board and put a Classic instead for a test and got a boot.

Also included a MacGlare GuardPlus screen cover...

Far better with new caps, and the hard drive is working ok:

The Apple on the Top left is surrounded by a square border, any idea ?

Good to know everything works fine now!

I have a floppy disk for my Plus that has that square around the apple logo as well. It was a 6.0.3 disk. I don't know why it's there.

It can't be the system version. 6.0.3 wouldn't run on a Classic II. The only version of System 6 that will run on a Classic II is 6.0.8L, and the one I have run on my Classic II does not have a border.

I don't know what it means either.

People with mystery apple boxes: have you checked to see if any unusual control panels/DAs are installed? (I have no idea what it means either, just guessing.)

Such a beautiful machine. I got one too, but it was Maxelled beyond repair. :( . The corner of the analog board was cracked off, too. How does that even happen?

I am very curious about the squared Apple menu. Did you ever find anything out about it?
