Thanks to MacG4, I got a Macintosh Classic II.

6mb of RAM

80mb HD

System 7.1

Very crisp screen

My addiction has been cured! I finally have a black and white mac!

Yay!

have fun with the little guy. it will get more use with you then it did with me thats for sure. its not in too bad of shape it just needs to be cleaned up a little bit thats all...anyway have fun!!

YES. Someone else is excited about getting a Classic II!

Congrats man, despite the prevailing mood of the people here, and what most Mac sites will tell you, the Classic II is an excellent machine. HAve a wonderful time with it, use it to its fullest extent, and take care of it!

BTW, if you wish to up the RAM in it, I have 30-pin sticks here for it. 7.1 rocks with the full 10 megs :)

I'd be excited if i my Classic II still had a good analog board :( I've got one...got it in '98, and it died only last year. Great machine :D

It's not all Gloom and Doom. Plenty of the enlisted here have more than one good word for the Classic II/Performa 200's utility, as well as its genuinely classical proportions. With an EN/SC bridge, one of them can be a fully functional participant in a LAN, too.

I don't have anything bad to say about ANY of my 11 compacts... 2 Classic II's among them. The SE/30 just happens to be my favorite with it's 2 ADB ports (I plug my barcode scanner into the second port), large memory expansion, and ethernet card.

The Classic II is a nice machine. Enjoy!

I love them!

They are reliable little machines.

I have two that I got Surplus from Denver Public Schools.

Through Commecial Surplus LLC. NEVER I mean NEVER do business with them. But anyway, great liitle guy. Have fun!

People dislike the classic-form Macs? Absurd! I love 'em. I like my SE because it's old, and its little 20MB hard drive is loud enough that I don't need the activity light to know what's happening. More Macs need activity lights!

My SE/30 with its ethernet card and relatively large amount of RAM makes for one versatile 1-bit-screen machine.

I like my Classic because I can hold down Command-Option-X-O and see it boot super-fast off of the ROMs, so it looks like the machine is way quicker than it is.

I had some word processor work at school looong ago, IIRC we had a room full of classics, and a color LC for the teacher...

wonder if they still have them around (they had a pile of even older junk left once I checked)...

They had exactly the same thing when I was at school. 20 or so classroom Macs, mostly Classics but there were also a couple of Pluses and one or two Colour Classics. The teacher's desk had an LC III or LC 475 with remote monitoring software on it, (I think it was Timbuktu), so they could see what the students were doing on their machines. Sadly the school dumped them years ago before I was interested in Macs, otherwise I would have saved the lot! Fortunately though a teacher rescued a Plus in good condition and later on passed it to me as he didn't really want it. That was the Mac that started my 68K interest and I still have it!

I'd like to get a Classic II at some point as they look like nice machines. Very much like a Classic but with more "oomph".
