A couple of days ago, my YouTube feed got recommended a video for a Mac SE/30 with damage from a leaking battery, after watching that video, I realized I had one up in the attic that had been there since 2011 or 2012. In the meantime, I ordered one of those long T15 screwdrivers from Amazon, and last night, I got up into the attic, and took the thing down and opened it up. Fortunately, the battery has not leaked, and I can't even see any damage from leaking caps, although I think I'll get some new tant caps and replace the old electrolytes. This Mac came from the University of Oklahoma, and still has the asset tag, I purchased it at a thrift store for five dollars. It has the Asante ethernet board in it, and back when I was playing around with it I even had it on the Internet with an old version of Netscape. It also has a built-in 40 meg hard drive.
At this point, I'm just curious what upgrades/changes are recommended for the SE/30. I'm thinking about upgrading the ram, as I remember, it seem to run out of memory a lot. Are there any available modern processor upgrades for this thing, I am more of an Amiga guy, and there are tons of new upgrades being produced for older Amiga's computers, but I haven't seen much for the older Mac's
Thanks
Chuck E.
