Mac Plus Analog board works in 512k?

Hi I just received a Mac plus from Ebay. My plan is to replace my slightly dodgy 512k's Analog board with the one from the Plus until I have the time to do the necessary repairs on the 512k board.

Are these boards interchangeable?

Cheers!

Yup 100%. in fact, in the late 80s the Plus analogue board was the only one available for replacement in a 512K or 128K. Just make sure you adjust the voltages after you swap them.

Thanks mac128, the plus turned up today and it's in an even worse state than the 512k! Floppy won't read, keyboard doesn't work and the raster was quite jumpy. I Pulled it apart to find a very burnt looking pin on both sides of the J1 connector and burn marks on the corresponding joint on the board.

Reading the doc this would mean I should freshen up all the joints on J1, but what about the connector halves, have they had it or is it possible to clean them somehow? When refreshing the solder, do I need to keep the analog board connected to the CRT via the J1 connector cable? I wasn't sure if there was a way to disconnect it at the yoke end.

The keyboard problem seems to be a cracked joint where the cable connector plug attaches to the circuit board. The joints there are tiny and since I've used a soldering iron maybe twice in my life it should be interesting :)

No idea about the floppy, it was full of dust so I blew it out. The mechanism works to take and eject disks, but is very stiff and ejects known good boot disks. Edit: oops just found the article in the Wiki.. so, wheres the best place to get white lithium grease? :)

automotive store, hardware store.

liquid wrench makes one in a can, but its best to spray the can version onto a peice of old plastic/cardboard, and just rub it in, becuase that stuff goes everywhere.
