Hi,
I recently got a IIci with battery damage, it didn't look that bad compared to others I have seen online, so decided to try and get it working.
I have put wires to fix like 4 obvious broken traces in the battery area, replaced the CPU because the old one had 6 broken legs, and removed a couple of the ROM DIPS for cleaning, but sadly it won't chime on start up. all that on top of the standard full recap.
Current status is, I push the power button, it powers on like it should, have tested 12v and 5v in different points and both seem to be fine, but there is no chime, just the usual crackle on the speaker, and the weirdest on screen pattern.
Memory has been tested on a different Mac and it's good, same with the power supply, it's out of a working IIci I have.
Wonder if anyone has seen this before, and any ideas on what to do next will be much appreciated.
I'm not an expert on electronics or anything like that, I started some months ago buying old broken Macs and fixing them, mostly recapping and simple trace related stuff, just for fun and to learn about it, so far loving it. Feel free to talk to me like if I was 5yrs old.
