~llama scores an AV

6502
Yesterday I scored three more machines, two of them 68k's and one of them just plain awesome. I haven't really had a chance to check out the specs on the two 68k's but I know what they are:

* Quadra 660AV with AAUI to RJ-45 ethernet adapter

* Performa 405 (looks like an LC case--education model, maybe?)

And a nice AppleVision 15" monitor.

The real treat of the conquest was the portable: a 300MHz Blueberry iBook with 6GB hard drive, which I'm posting from right now using OS 9.2.2 and iCab over AirPort. I'm going out to the West Coast at the end of the month and needed an indestructible, not-too-expensive to replace laptop to take with me in case someone decided to steal my machine while I'm in an airport.

And it's just plain cool, and the battery still holds about 7 hours of charge. I've always wanted a clamshell iBook.

ADDENDUM: The clamshell also has 320MB of RAM. 9.2.2 boots in about twenty seconds.

Nice score! :)

As for the Performa 405, thats actually an LCII, thats been rebranded as a Performa so that it could be sold to the general public. Performas were often sold in department stores, and came with extra software that the LCs didn't get.

7 hours?! werent the clamshells rated only for 6? And here my dual USB only gets 1 hour from it's depleted cells.

I have always wanted a original ibook for my collection, the 300mhz, 32mb, 3.2gb version, with airport card, running Airport software 1.0 on Mac OS 8.6. And get it in blueberry, of course. Or get one and run Mac OS 8.7 on it with the drivers for the "proto 99".

-digital ;)

I'd say 10.2 should run adequately on the iBook with that much RAM. Of course, more is nicer.
