LCII "About This Macintosh"

What version of the OS are you running? (I know it's 7.x, but any specifics?)

I know an LC II will state as such on 7.1.

On my LCII, System 6.0.8, 6.0.8L, 7.0 and 7.01 all say "Macintosh LC". However, System 7.1 says "Macintosh LC II".

As we all know though, like with any other 68k Mac, System 7.5 onwards refers to it as simply "Macintosh".

I think I know why.

6.0.8, 6.0.8L, 7.0, and 7.0.1 all were released before the LCII. The LCII is not in their system.

Which leads me to an interesting question--did Apple envision putting a 68030 into the LC instead of a 68020 when they were designing the OS? After all, there were no enablers yet with any of those versions and they all are older systems working on a machine released later.

Well it doesn't really need an enabler...the 68030 is more or less 100% compatible with the 68020, and apart from the extra 2MB of RAM in later LCIIs, the other hardware is more or less unchanged.
