LC575 64 MB SIMM memory issue

Yes, but it *doesn't* work...

And the bank'edness is not the cause fof the problem.

As I wrote, an HP D4290 would work fine, has been shown to work fine in these machines, and those are single banked.

The SIMM has a problem. The problem is unrelated to its bankedness.

I'm sorry your seller is kind of obtuse.

I decided to exchange it for a working 32MB module, as the seller insists that the 575 can not accept a 64MB module.

I look at it this way. What could the LC 575 possibly run that would need 64MB of RAM? 32 is more than enough.

The only "real-life" situations in which I have wanted more than 36MB of RAM in a 68k machine were a) in the case of PowerBooks, for running from a RAM disk (there I think the most you can get is 48MB or some such in a PB190); or closer to home, B) when working with Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, or Illustrator — or more than one of them at the same time — on a Quadra. Graphics work, which I have done in the past on 68k hardware, is much better with 72MB+ RAM. Then finally, there is c) A/UX 3.x, which likes plenty of memory to work in.

But you are quite right. 36MB (which is what you will have) is plenty for what an LC575 was designed to do.
