Thanks to djcommie overhere I obtained a LC PIVOT INTERFACE.

I was hoping it would give my LC II a much needed graphics boost. Sadly I doesn't seem able to do higher resolutions then the standard 640X480.

There are a lot of cool functions but you need a pivot monitor for that. This pivot interface came without FPU, but I installed one. That one I took out of the FPU only PDS card.

The one big advantage right know I that I was able to take the vram out of my LC II and in to my Quadra 700. So that my Q700 can handle better resolutions. Huzzah!

It is a cool expansion size the board itself is as big the LC II motherboard. I wonder if it will work in my LCIII+

If you go to the 68kmla flickr group you can see all sizes of the picture

I got one from somewhere too, but I've only got LC475s, so I haven't tested it yet. See if you can find one of the DB-15 <-> DB-15 versions of the Mac Video Adapters to test it . . .

. . . if I can't test my Card/Adapter Combo in an LC475. ;)

I'm all but positive that it should do most of what the IIsi and SE/30 Color Pivot II Cards can do.

At the very least it's not VampireVideo so it won't beat the snot outta' your limited System RAM! }:)

Have you tried putting a SIMM in the slot yet?

Nope! Won't work on the MicroQuadras! :disapprove:

TattleTech didn't recognize the DeclROM/identify the card. Could be three things:

A: It's incompatible.

B: It doesn't seat well enough to be addressed, the SIMM Socket on the LC Color Pivot Card interferes with

___ physical space already occupied by the LC475's RAM SIMM

C: The board was so torqued by physical incompatibilities that I borked it by installing it . . . 8-o

. . . I'm hoping for "A" as the answer! :approve:

edit: re-read your IP, I thought you had tried it in an LC and were hoping it'd work in an LCII for some reason . . .

. . . missed the whole VRAM thing! ::)

What monitor are you using for testing?

Well, it works you know on my LCII :approve: . As you can see on the picture there is a simm installed. Can I install a bigger sim? I assume it works as VRAM and not as regular ram?

I already discoverd a neat function of the radius software. If you press contrl+option and mouse down you can easely change the number of colors onscreen. That good for those games who want four or sixteen colors :o)

OOPSiE!!!! :I

Definitely try the highest capacity SIMM you've got, tha migh make a world of difference if you're using a MultiSync CRT and an adapter. If you've got it hooked up to an Apple FixedRes 13" - 14" Monitor/Cable combo, you'll probably never see anything but 640 x 480.

Check out the test results I posted for the Color Pivot II Card for the IIsi-n-SE/30 if you haven't already.

I'll try the simms later on because I don't have any right here. Does anybody know how big the standard simm is in these LC pivot interfaces ?

As a monitor I'm currently using a big ass samsung lcd which constantly drops out because I'm not not on the correct resolution (it asks for 1920x1080 60hz) with a apple monitor to vga adaptor from Nokia. Since I'm currently not home but house sitting for my parents I've only brought my LCII and Quadra 700.

But I'll check out your thread!

Try 7.0.1 with the tuneup, that was the last OS compatible with the Rocket & RocketShare. Radius spent a lot of time tuning their drivers to get the most out of that OS.

Apple had intentionally screwed them out the ability to make use of their license for the Rocket/RocketShare to run single, and especially multiple, instances of Mac OS ROM's copied into RAM via AppleTalk over NuBus by changing the AppleTalk protocols that made it possible when they coded 7.1!

IIRC, RadiusWare was a unified Control Panel environment, spanning their entire product line, so 7.0.1/tuneup might be the sweet spot for the LC Color Pivot too.

That's my theory and I'm sticking to it! :approve:

Update!

I brought some simms with me today, apparently it is not a 72 pin simm but a 84 pin simm. I have personally never heard of such a thing. It is 768KB big if anybody cares. No progress on the software side however.

I wonder if that's a VRAM or a DRAM SIMM Standard? :?:

IIRC, the Reply DOS on Mac Cards for the Q630 and its Performa 68k and PPC offspring have that same RA SIMM Socket on board.

I'm going to be looking for an ISO for a 7.0.1 w/tuneup CD Installer. Anybody know where to find one online? :?:

That's GOTTA be quicker than going through my CDs! ::)

I think I have one of these cards somewhere, not sure if mine is the same, but it was pulled from an LCII. (The actual Pivot display came with the machine, but had some phosphor issues).

Before the issues, the Pivot was one of the coolest displays I had ever used. I'm not sure of its resolution in portrait mode, but it did switch modes on the fly when you rotated the display.

I'll have to go through my box of cards and see if I still have it. I'm curious as to the specs of my card now, as it looks slightly different than the one in the picture from my immediate recall. Shame it's too large; would have liked to have tried it in a Color Classic.
