LC 575 and a Citizen GSX-140 dot matrix printer.

So I got this printer today and it works. But the issue im having is everytime it connects to my mac, my mac freezes and ceases to work until I hard restart it. Any ideas on what might be causing the issue?

My mac is running classic mac os 8.0

I've never used one of those printers but first to mind: does it have the right cable and is that cable plugged into the right port? Is it ok if the LC starts up with the cable connected? If its not that, it could be an extension or Chooser issue.

At the time, I could rarely get hot-plug a printer into my PowerBook 190 without it freezing.
