I plan on using my 475 for a future book layout, probably photoshop 3 as well. They still work just fine!

Absolutely! And the 475 with its '040 may actually run Photoshop 3.0 without feeling like its being punished.
compaq presario 2500 (2580us), typical windows XP laptop that has the absolute slowest install of XP i've ever seen. took several minutes just to open my computer. definitely putting 2k on it
Bleh. Pentium 4 Mobile. One of the worst eras of windows laptops. Conversely, I've been rooting around for a Pentium M laptop (or a fancy desktop motherboard). Those Pentium M chips are basically a Pentium III turned super-saiyan.
bad news... the imagewriter II i got has a loose return switch and i'm not quite sure how to remove the printhead without damaging anything. good news? i got the macintosh SE FDHD working, its in very good shape too. barely, probably never even yellowed. installed an 80MB hard drive, recapped the analog board and PSU, installed system 7.1. runs nicely. i wonder if something like an SCA drive would work, though.
Does it actually spin up? I had an issue with my IIcx where most things worked but the floppy was completely dead, turned out to be a trace with either the +5v or +12v rail so it effectively wasn’t getting power.
