Japanese Macintosh Magazines from 1990–1992

A while ago I used HOYOYO Proxy to buy 32 old (1990–1992) Japanese Macintosh mooks "magazine books" plus some brochures, all for 1000JPY ($7).

I shipped 24KG by sea (for $100) and they just arrived!

If anybody has anything specific they're looking for I'll be happy to dive in!

Too bad these probably aren't archived anywhere online that I see.

One thing I'm curious about is if you can find any mention of the Macintosh Portable Japanese Upgrade Kit or any pictures showing the Macintosh Portable with a Japanese keyboard. I know they exist but I can't find any information or even pictures of them online.

Ooooo. I bet there are some ads for Japanese exclusive upgrades and modifications that we never got to see over here.

Yes, it is. That's why I bought them. Not for the purposes of scanning—after all this is 24KG of mooks that have about 200 pages each—but just so at least somebody outside of Japan has access to them. I have more from this era that I bought in previous years.

Japan has very strict copyright laws so if they are scanned (they will be) they are shared only underground and not to people outside of Japan. Such is life. I've had to resort to getting photocopies (a loophole) from the National Library in Tokyo: https://blog.gingerbeardman.com/2023/05/24/ordering-photocopies-from-japans-national-library/

Will keep my eyes peeled for Macintosh Portable and BUG Pickles!
